a call to all torontonians...
In August, my fiancé and I will be moving in together here in Toronto. This means I'll be starting to look for a place over the next few months.
I'm wondering if any of my readers have a favourite listing service (for rentals)? In the past I've used View It and newspapers, so I'm pretty new at this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you buying or renting?

Hi Chris,
We're looking to rent. I'll change that in the entry. Any advice?

If you're renting, use craigslist. I find the best thing to do is click on "Housing" on http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/ and type the intersection you want to be near into the "search" bar.
There are also several Google Maps housing mashups out there that you def. want to take advantage of:

Good luck!

Hey,
I use Renter's news online as a basis to see what is in the area I want and things usually snowball from there. Click on a listing, it will end up giving you the management companies website which often has more listings. I think that is how I found mine and Kevin's place.
Good luck with the search!

I use the social network of.. my friends. Do you know what area you're looking at moving into?
I like the buildings these guys manage, prices aren't tragic either: http://www.realmanagement.ca/
And I may be bias...but I reckon I live in one of the best neighborhoods - I'm basing this strictly on the ammount of things in my hood that show up on 'the best of Blog TO'

Chris:
Thanks for resources! I never would've thought of a googlemaps mashup!
Heather:
We're flexible, but I'd love to get a little closer to my work. I have fantasies of living within walking distance! Short of that, I'll probably try and stick near a subway route. But thanks for the link, I'll definitely look into that.
Shannon:
Another great idea, thank you.
Oh, and sorry for the delay, I've added your e-mail addresses to the approved list (helps me avoid spam).
Some very helpful tips; I'm certainly glad I posted this entry after all!
